In recent weeks the demand for food delivery services has increased significantly due to the corona crisis. Although suppliers are doing their best, it is often difficult for customers to obtain a delivery slot within an acceptable amount of time.
Hungry Venture‘s partner startup Foodly has found a great solution for this problem: Foodly has developed a search engine that shows available delivery times for every postal code throughout Germany. Co-founder Hannes Kübel briefly answered a few questions about the new project.
How Foodly supports online delivery services
Under normal circumstances, the Foodly team focuses on its main business: The startup, founded in 2018 by Hannes Kübel, Johannes Linowski and Peter Schrott, is an online marketplace for food, based on recipe recommendations. The free Foodly App offers customers recipes from food bloggers, Chefkoch.de or specially created suggestions. The special feature is that the ingredients can also be ordered directly in the app from food delivery services such as the Rewe online shop. This way you can discover new dishes and cook them on the same day.
Due to the current situation, both Foodly and the food delivery partners have experienced an enormous increase in demand. As a result, many have reached their capacity limits and have been completely booked out for several weeks. At the same time customer questions about the long delivery times became more and more frequent, says Hannes Kübel. Foodly’s answer to this is a search engine for online delivery services: By entering their postal code, customers can find available delivery services and times in the online Food Checker and book them directly. This saves them the trouble of searching and comparing different online offers.
Currently, 13 delivery services can be found in the online food checker. However, the offer is constantly expanded. The company is already talking to several organic farms and other retailers, so that customers will soon find even more available delivery slots available.

What Hannes Kübel wants to tell startups in order to master the current crisis in the best possible way:
I believe that every crisis has its opportunities. Certainly it is not an easy situation, because something like this has never happened before and you don’t know what is yet to come. I think it is very important, in addition to observing obvious measures like costs, to take advantage of new opportunities in particular. A lot is changing at the moment – consequently, there is plenty of room for new things. Use this opportunity!
